My personal favorite Burzum album, this album saw Varg evolve more into the minimalism mold that he would perfect on Filosofem...a true black metal masterpiece, like all Burzum albums. This album also sees Varg experiment more heavily with synth-oriented black metal, as an incredibly effective atmosphere-creating tool. All around one of the best black metal releases of all time, and certainly one of the best of the 2nd wave of black metal. You owe it to yourself to listen to this. Highly recommended. Burzum's Filosofem is incredibly atmospheric but somewhat repetitive. Despite its flaws, and Varg's insanity, it was still a compelling listen. I'll have to give this one a try as well.
